EGA and Dharmatech partnered together in Spring 2011 to build a website/database system that integrated Tracking the Field and allowed staff and the board to update the membership and allow members to connect and learn.

Tracking the field

Three full-time people researched 8,000 grants from members' websites and 2009 990s.  EGA's methodology also included investigating beyond the grant description to better understand how to categorize the grant. The information was then imported into a customized CiviCRM database that allow staff to generate reports for analysis and allow members to search grants within and across categories.

Impact: From a members perspective, the new site allows you to view grants given on particular issues or strategies, view contacts associated with those grants, and foster connection for more effective philanthropy. From an EGA staff perspective, the new system provides quicker analysis and the possibility of providing TTF reports on a yearly basis.

Membership Services

The member dashboard allows you to edit your profile providing the most up-to-date information and update Tracking the Field contact information so other members can learn about and contact you.  The dashboard also allows you to send ideas to EGA staff, submit highlights on your foundation, and see other individual program officers that give in the same issue areas as you do.  The new site dynamically updates upcoming event information and member highlights on a daily basis so you know the latest happenings in the community.
